The 5 winning Super Hero Puppets made by BAP participants earlier this year have gone international and were proudly showcased at the Frankfurt Book Fair! The 5 puppets, selected from hundreds that were exhibited in Cape Town, South Africa this past July, travelled all the way to the fair in Frankfurt, Germany, where the Peter Ustinov Foundation exhibited the exemplary work of our participants. The puppets were positively received and drew hundreds of people to the stand.
The Frankfurt Book Fair, locally known as the Frankfurter Buchmesse, is the world's largest trade fair for books. The Peter Ustinov Foundation, one of The Butterfly Art Project’s funders, took the opportunity to display BAP’s Superhero Project and their stories. Visitors were taken aback by the puppets’ stories, and eagerly took lots of photos. “It’s pure energy there, if one loves books and pretty things, it’s a place where you feel at home.” says Dr. Petra Bormann, a team member of the Peter Ustinov Foundation. The atmosphere and energy is a result of several thousand exhibitors representing book publishing, multimedia and technology companies all being in one place.
We would like to thank the Peter Ustinov Foundation for giving our children the opportunity to have their work showcased at such a prestigious event. Here’s to our little superheroes taking over and healing the world.
