heart for art
Heart for Art: Heart for Art offers safe learning spaces and opportunities for children to explore, experience and develop creativity, to acknowledge and find appropriate ways of dealing with emotional hurt and pain and to heal through our classes
Project Cocoon: BAP partners with CAFs to incubate and develop them as they establish their community-based organisations/initiatives and implement healing art classes in sustainable ways.
The Butterfly Art Project trains, mentors and supports adults working with children in marginalised communities bringing psycho-social support through art. These direct beneficiaries are BAP's Community Art Facilitators (CAFs). They establish art groups, in which their learned psycho-social skills are utilised and the child’s uniqueness is encouraged. In 2020 BAP can count 216 acive CFs in 64 communities, which have become a most valuable resource for the region and its future challenges. Under Lockdown BAP could make contact to 102 CAFs active in 30 communities. In 2020 we reached out to at least 4470 children through our CAFs in the Western Cape.
